My wife and I shopped for months looking for a new home. After seeing 53 houses, I was sure our realtor was about to shoot us. We went into the Brookfield Community to look at a listing and just happened upon an R&K home in the finishing stages of construction. After walking into this house we knew right then we were home! God brings people into your life for a reason and that is what he did in my life with Richard and Kathy. I had left my husband after a 17 year marriage with no home for my son and I. Rich and Kathy had just purchased a home on Summerfield Road to put their office in, “instead”, they renovated the house totally and made it into a beautiful like-cottage with beautiful tile, crown molding, refinished the hardwoods, painted the entire home in beautiful colors and gave my son and I a place we are “proud” to call home… and that’s the difference between a house and a home! We've known Rich and Kathy for over 12 years. When we decided to build our new house, we chose them to do it because we knew it would be well built and look great. No other contractor in the NW area of Guilford County that I know of has a better reputation. We also believed that they would deliver us great value and they did not disappoint us. I had friends who asked me if I liked my contractor and I told them, “Yes.” They often replied, “Well you won’t after you're finished building your house!” I'm happy to report that we still like them very much and are extremely happy with our new home.
The whole process of building a new home was made a lot easier by working with R&K. After we had chosen our site and our house plans, we had several sessions where we sat down with Rich and Kathy and discussed design details, materials, colors, etc. They had samples, photographs and other aids right in their office, which helped the process, go smoothly.
Kathy spent several days with us picking out cabinets, tile, flooring, lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, etc. Her personal assistance, along with the experienced suppliers she works with, made that process simple. I cannot imagine how confusing it would have been if my wife and I had been assigned that task on our own.
Our superintendent, Jason Long, was wonderful to work with. He made sure things were done correctly and to the R&K standard. Jason was very good to communicate with us and ask questions every step of the way. That close communication meant we had very few “do-over” and kept our costs in line. His experience and input was invaluable to making sure everything came together in a way that satisfied our needs and wants. The subcontractors that R&K works with are wonderful. Their workmanship is great, they are easy to work with and eager to please. They all made sure that we were satisfied with their end product, even if it meant coming back and making changes.
